Someone finally did it. Someone finally took one of the last humble dishes to the next level in Montreal. That dish; Pho. As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, I’ve eaten my way though the city and have a pretty extensive list of restaurants where I’ve eaten pho. From spots in Cote-des-Neiges, to the Mile-End, West island to Rosemont, I’ve eaten them all. Yes, yes, I’m working on up updated “best of” post – will be out soon. The dac biet is my bowl of choice. It’s the gold medal standard. It’s got all the bells and whistles – rare steak, brisket, flank, tendon, tripe, meatballs topped on chewy rice noodles in a delicious bone broth. What can be better? It’s perfect. How do you improve on perfection? Well, this spot did just that. I checked out Pho Jean-Talon to try their soon-to-be-famous filet mignon pho.
Petite-Patrie
What food related thing are you proud of? Are you able to eat really spicy foods and is potent enough to test plumping systems? Are you an expert sommellier that can discern different kinds of wine by blind sniffing the shelf at the SAQ? Have you ever eaten the weight of a small child at an all you can eat buffet? One of the things I’m most proud of is eating over 50 bowls of pho across Montreal to present the most comprehensive “Best Pho of Montreal” list. With this week’s review, I’m happy to add another accomplishment to my list – having eaten at every Japanese ramen joint in Montreal. I visit Ramen Plaza.
I’m not going to beat around the bush and give you some sarcastic recount of a recent brunch experience I had. I went here: Fixe Cafe Bistro for brunch and here is all the information you need: 5985 Saint-Hubert street, 514-270-6667. Stop reading and make your reservations now. I’ll wait. You’ll thank me later.
Done?
Ok good. Are you ready for brunch? Guess what, you don’t have to wait for the weekend. I visited this spot in Rosemont/Petite Patrie that not only serves up a great, GREAT brunch menu that gives you more reasons to look forward to the weekend, but they serve it during the week as well. YES.
