Montreal Inspired Sushi – Kejaki Sushi Bar

by Jason September 29, 2016
written by Jason

I’m starting off this review with an apology, and you’ll see why. I’m often asked which are my favourite restaurants in Montreal. I always answer with the same handful of places because obviously, they are my favourites, but I’ve been lying. Ok, not LYING lying, but I haven’t been 100% honest. Not in the sense that I’m naming places that aren’t my favourites, but I haven’t been mentioning all of them. If there’s one “favourite restaurant” I’m always being asked about it’s Japanese.”Hey Jason, it’s obvious that you’re so ridiculously good looking, but more importantly, where’s your favourite Japanese restaurant in the city?” One of my favourites is Kejaki Sushi in Ville Saint-Laurent.

Souvlaki by the Shovel – Souvlaki Bar

by Jason August 5, 2016
written by Jason

My girl and I were looking for a place to eat on a quite Tuesday night. So we started walking around downtown to find a new place to eat or revisit one of our numerous favourite restaurants in Montreal. As with most people these days, what started off as a walk, slowly became a Pokemon Go mission to “catch ’em all” in the neighbourhood. Long story short, one thing led to another and we ended up at Centropolis Laval. I’m not often in Laval, so I had no idea of where to eat. Fortunately, I’ve heard nothing but great things about Souvlaki Bar, so we decided to check it out.

Tacos and Ceviche in The Mile-End – Socialito

by Jason July 27, 2016
written by Jason

There used to be a time when if you wanted tacos, there were only a few Mexican joints in town to get your fix. The type of places that treat you to a watered down margarita and sombrero on your birthday. Places that featured hokey pseudo pueblo murals painted on the walls. Fortunately for us, Montreal has experienced a literal taco boom in recent years. The best part is that these palces are located right across the city representing each neighbourhood as though in preparation for some delicious taco Hunger Game… which coincidentally is every Tuesday when I see that damn #tacotuesday hashtag on Instagram. I recently checked out one of the newest taquerias in town, Socialito in the Mile-End.

About Me

About Me

People get hungry and need to find good places to eat... I am people, and here are the places I've found. This is a log of my endeavors set forth to discover the hidden gems of the city I call home, Montreal. I vow to not leave one hot pot lid unturned, snail shell hollowed, or souvlaki foil emptied until I can safely say that I ate my way across Montreal. It's a big claim, but it's one I'm making.
