Korean Fried Chicken in Saint-Henri – Les Crazy Chickens

by Jason February 1, 2021
written by Jason

I’m considering changing the name of this site to Shut Up and Eat Fried Chicken – your go-to source for fried chicken content; all fried chicken, all the time. What can I do when there are literally new chicken places opening up by the hour? I remember when Korean Fried Chicken (KFC) wasn’t even a thing yet. I had Yangnyeom Chicken for the first time 12 years ago at one of my favourite spots, Chez Hwang (closed) – a family run spot in N.D.G.

They explained that it was almost like General Tao. I was sold before tao. But it was so much more than just a lazy equivalent. The batter, the fact that it came on the bone, the sauce. Then came the different variations! It didn’t stop. Places like Mon Ami, Comon, Dawa, Corilla, and Olivia’s Authentic Chicken are proof now of how far yangnyeom Chicken has come and where it’s going. To add to the list, this week I checked out the newest Korean fried chicken spot in Saint-Henri, Les Crazy Chickens.

Fulfilling the Vietnamese food void Saint-Henri – Tran Cantine.

I don’t have to tell you that the south west borough of Montreal (Saint-Henri, Griffintown…) is the place to be for some of the hottest food destinations, coveted reservations that bring out the humblest of brags on social media. With spots like Arthur’s, L’Avenue‘s new location, Foiegwa or Le Bird Bar, cuisine offerings of this area is diverse as is their neighbourhood and clientele. From modern Jewish deli-inspired food, tacos and burritos, to upscale refined comfort food, the “Sud-Ouest” has it all… except a go-to legit Asian spot (more specifically, Vietnamese) until now; Tran Cantine.

Breakfast and the Funky Brunch – Restaurant L’Avenue

by Jason January 19, 2018
written by Jason

Hoping everyone had a great holiday. Spent mine the same as every year, breaking resolutions in world record time and eating my weight in things cooked with butter. Reconnecting with friends and family during the holidays is also fun; classic discussion topics, Kardashians, politics, how fast someone filled up gas at the first sight of a price increase and most importantly recent restart discoveries. I’ve discovered that far above a game of Monopoly, or sliding into the DMs of a common crush, what will really test the relationship between you and a loved one are your restaurant opinions. Little did I know that this local brunch hot spot in the plateau (with now a location in Saint-Henri) would be the epicentre of a recent discussion blowout – Restaurant L’Avenue.

About Me

About Me

People get hungry and need to find good places to eat... I am people, and here are the places I've found. This is a log of my endeavors set forth to discover the hidden gems of the city I call home, Montreal. I vow to not leave one hot pot lid unturned, snail shell hollowed, or souvlaki foil emptied until I can safely say that I ate my way across Montreal. It's a big claim, but it's one I'm making.
