MTL à Table Edition – Ikanos

by Jason November 5, 2014
written by Jason

In case you missed it, we are currently in the thick of Montreal’s restaurant week – MTL à Table – an autumn staple where the over 140 restaurants offer special table d’hôte menus at either $19, $29 or $39. An awesome way to discover some of Montreal’s culinary talent at extremely friendly prices. Featuring some of the city’s finest tables, MTL à Table gives everyone from foodies to occasional restaurant diners a great opportunity to visit some of Montreal’s best establishments where they probably usually wouldn’t go, all the while being wallet friendly. I was a guest of Tourism Montreal and had the opportunity to check out one of Montreal’s newest restaurants in Old Montreal, Ikanos.

Southern BBQ in Laval – Le Fumoir Rubs Smokehouse

by Jason October 29, 2014

There’s been something I’ve wanted to do for a long time, something that I’ve wanted to cross off my food list of Montreal; to eat at every single BBQ restaurant in Montreal. When I say BBQ, I’m talking about American, southern BBQ and I don’t mean restaurants that just so happen to serve a random rack of ribs or a maple bacon smoked something or other. written by Jason

Forget everything you know about “Dakgangjeong.” “Dakgangjeong” is korean fried chicken, and if you don’t know what Korean fried chicken is, then you’ll have no idea what I’m talking about, but follow me. If you can imagine it’s the crispiest, mind-shattering, twice-friend, battered fried chicken that would make a handful of autumn leaves look and sound like a matzo ball. If you’re looking for Korean fried chicken in Montreal, there are a few places to find it. Some of your favourite Korean restaurants serve their own signature versions, and then there are the places that specialize in it like it’s their job… err, wait a minute.

About Me

About Me

People get hungry and need to find good places to eat... I am people, and here are the places I've found. This is a log of my endeavors set forth to discover the hidden gems of the city I call home, Montreal. I vow to not leave one hot pot lid unturned, snail shell hollowed, or souvlaki foil emptied until I can safely say that I ate my way across Montreal. It's a big claim, but it's one I'm making.
