Challenge accepted! All you can eat Korean BBQ and Sushi – Hoshi Korean BBQ & Sushi

by Jason October 4, 2021
written by Jason

Recently, someone hit me up to ask my why have I been featuring so many West Island restaurants recently. Simple; recognition where recognition is due. Once upon a time the west island was a barren wasteland of interesting restaurants. Ok, I meant, the west was the place the place to go to if you wanted to dine at the same five Italian places that are stuck in time. Or if you liked big box chains and the food court at the mall. Otherwise you’d have to trek past Ikea for some decent eats.

But now they’ve got claims for proper Korean food like Corilla, Matjip, and Coq au Miel, dumplings at Mama Dumpling and Dumpling King, southern options like barbecue at Smokebox, a taste of ‘Nawlins at Nolah, to legit Persian kebabs at Grill Select. You’ve come a long way West Island, I applaud you! This week I’m checking out the newest player in the game, Hoshi, your new all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ and sushi spot.

written by Jason

Yes! You read that right! Imagine eating copious amounts of fried chicken to your heart’s delight. I’m not too ashamed to admit I’ve zoned out before during meetings thinking about impossibly crunchy battered Korean fried chicken, and then having someone nudge me back to reality to tell me that there is drool pooling on my desk. Time to put on your stretchy pants because Restaurant Mon Ami – home to Montreal’s best Korean fried chicken, now has a location that serves all you can eat fried chicken… only it’s also one of the best all you can eat Korean barbecue restaurants in the city. What? Let me explain.

by Jason January 29, 2016
written by Jason

If you’ve never had Korean barbecue before, I’m sorry to tell you that we can’t be friends until you do. It’s not only a meal, it’s an experience you must have at least once in your life… or every other week. Imagine plates upon plates of different cuts of marinated meat, fresh seafood and vegetables piled high, banchan side dishes like kimchi, marinated cucumbers and pickled radishes all surrounding a fiery hot grill that sits recessed into the middle of the table waiting for your command. I recently had the chance to check out Montreal’s Kalbi BBQ, the newest go-to Korean BBQ joint where you do all your own cooking and you eat all that you can.

About Me

About Me

People get hungry and need to find good places to eat... I am people, and here are the places I've found. This is a log of my endeavors set forth to discover the hidden gems of the city I call home, Montreal. I vow to not leave one hot pot lid unturned, snail shell hollowed, or souvlaki foil emptied until I can safely say that I ate my way across Montreal. It's a big claim, but it's one I'm making.
