In the past several years, it seems like the city has experienced an exponential boom in fried chicken spots. You’ve got the OGs like, Triple Crown, Icehouse, Mon Ami, Comon, to the new kids, Olivia’s, Corilla, Cali and Maffeo’s. I’d like to say that the fried chicken frenzy has peaked but with a few more spots that I have lined to to write about, I don’t see an end in sight… for now. That being said, this week, I hit up one of our home-grown fried chicken chains to pop up, Jack Le Coq.

My Favourite Vegetarian Restaurants in Montreal
Sometimes I eat vegetables. There I said it. Jokes aside, I enjoy eating healthy. Not only out of necessity (science stipulates certain affects pounding down cheeseburgers and poutines has on the body), but out of choice. As much as I love BBQ, burritos, pizza as the next person, I can’t help but crave something lighter when it’s 40 degrees plus humidity in the butt-crack of summer. It’s common that when the mercury rises, your appetite dwindles. So if you’re looking for a place for a light but substantial meal, here is a list of vegetarian and vegan restaurants to get you through the summer (and beyond)!

I’ve been a big fan of Blackstrap BBQ and total fan boy of Pitmaster Dylan Kier and have been following his quest for total BBQ domination in the local, provincial, national, international and interstellar BBQ competition circuit. So you can imagine my excitement when I found out that he was opening up another restaurant. His second endeavour however isn’t another banging BBQ joint, but rather a spot that Montreal has sorely needed for the longest time. A place that would fill a certain Tex-Mex void in the city – Tejano BBQ Burrito – your new go to spot for burritos.
